1 in 3 Young Carers say their caring role makes them feel stressed, and 23% felt their caring role has stopped them from making friends.
We help combat this social isolation with weekly After School Clubs and Holiday drop-in clubs at our centre, which aim to address the negative impacts of being a young carer. Each child has a key worker to provide support and a voice at meetings. As a small charity we are adaptable and are able to put appropriate support in place very quickly when a need is identified. We work with statutory and voluntary children’s agencies and local schools. We support lunchtime drop-in clubs in many of the schools in Andover, working closely with their young carer leads to identify young carers and provide support as early as possible.
