Meet Jake
Jake is running in this year’s London Marathon and has very kindly decided to fundraise for Andover Young Carers. He was born in Andover and works as an electrician locally. He is married with a little girl of almost 3 and a baby boy born in February.
He chose to raise money for AYC as he really wanted to use the opportunity of running the London Marathon to raise money for a local charity as opposed to a larger national charity. He said ‘I did a bit of research and found out about you guys and really loved the work you do!’
Jake told us that he has always been heavily involved in sport, in particular football, golf and the gym, but had neglected his fitness over the last few years. He had taken part in the Great South Run back in 2017 and took up running again in April last year. He says ’It has now snowballed into running 6 times a week covering 60+kms weekly in preparation for trying to run my first marathon in under 30 hours 40 minutes!’
