Our volunteers are vital to the service we provide for young carers. They help out in all sorts of ways, in the garden, driving the minibus, helping at After School Clubs and cooking meals for young carers. During Volunteers Week this year we invited them along for coffee and cake to say thank you. Sarah, our Activities Worker, organised a delicious spread of scones, strawberries, cake and pastries and we got the chance to catch up with them. This was also an opportunity for them to meet other volunteers, as often they come in at different times.
It is always lovely to spend some time with our volunteers who so generously give up their time to help us at AYC. Judging by the comments we received, they enjoy it too: “We feel part of the family coming down to the Bungalow, everyone is so friendly and welcoming.”
We are always looking for volunteers so if you feel you have a little spare time, do get in touch. As one volunteer said: “I love coming out and doing something every week, it’s great that the young carers see the benefit.”
