Our volunteers give so much to our organisation, without them we wouldn’t be able to do what we do.
Thank you to each and every one of you.
One of our wonderful volunteers Laura has this to say about volunteering at AYC:
“Having recently moved to a new area, I was eager to find a meaningful way to connect with the community, and volunteering seemed like the perfect way to do that. I am a Drama and Speech teacher by trade and wanted to find an environment where my skills could be helpful.
I selected Andover Young Carers (AYC), a small charity that provides vital support and respite to young carers in Andover and the surrounding area. Volunteering as a support worker allows me to assist young people who take on immense responsibilities in their daily lives and although relatively new to the role, I have already seen the profound impact that AYC has in providing young carers with a space to express themselves, build confidence, and feel understood.
What I enjoy most is helping to create a safe, supportive environment for the young carers where there are no expectations—other than to have fun and connect with other children who are in similar situations. It is invaluable for them to feel seen and supported, surrounded by peers who truly understand their experiences.
I would wholeheartedly recommend volunteering to others. It is a truly enriching experience that allows you to make a tangible difference while learning from the resilience and spirit of others.
