Andover Young Carers is an independent Charity established to provide support to children and young people who have a caring responsbility.
A Young Carer is a child or young person under 18 who provides regular or on-going care and emotional support to a family member who is physically or mentally ill, disabled or misuses substances.
A child or young person becomes vulnerable when the level of care giving and responsibility to the person in need of care becomes excessive or inappropriate for that child, risk impacting on his or her emotional, physical well-being or educational achievement and life chances.
We ensure Young Carers have the best possible life chances, following an assessment of individual needs, by providing appropriate respite and support. Our support includes a range of activities, trips, outings, after school clubs, life skills, homework support, whole family support and signposting to other support services.
As of the 1st November 2015, Andover Young Carers Project has re-registered with the Charity Commission as Andover Young Carers, as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. Our new Charity Number, applicable from this date, is 1163715.
The aims and objectives of the Charity have not changed and on re-registration, the same Trustees will lead the Charity.
All services, activities and staffing remain the same - it's business as usual!
